Join us for a hybrid meeting (in person and online) with author Michelle Sholund, who will give a presentation on using Story Assessment Sheets as a tool to approach a round of editing your own drafts as well as a guide to critiquing other people’s work. With some tweaks, the sheets can also be given to beta readers to get specific feedback. Handouts will be distributed at the in-person meeting and placed in the chat of the online meeting.

Michelle Sholund, who writes under the name M.K. Sholund, not only loves reading genre fiction such as horror, but also loves writing horror fiction in the form of flash fiction, short stories and novels. Her works are inspired by stories her dad shared involving his ghostly encounters and legends from her Hawaiian ancestors as well as soaking up stories relating to Maryland history, culture and folklore. During college, she worked at Borders Books, Music, and Cafe where she learned about the retail side of the publishing industry then after college, she became a freelance writer. Several of her articles have been published in trade magazines such as The Crafts Report. Now, when she’s not writing, Michelle can be found volunteering as president of the Carroll County Chapter of the Maryland Writers Association, co-leading a critique group, and attending writing conferences across the United States. Her latest book, 150+ Prompts: A Creative Writer's Journal, will be forthcoming in April 2025. Her website is mksholund.com. Michelle currently lives in Baltimore County, Maryland with her husband and two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, going on roadtrips around Maryland, or making lollipops and selling them at local farmer’s markets.
