Prince George's Chapter: Juggling Genres as a Writer

May 08, 2021
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Prince George's County Chapter Zoom Meeting

The more versatile you are as a writer, the more stories you can tell and the more opportunities you have for reaching audiences. But how do you jump from genre to genre or switch-hit between fiction and non-fiction? In this session, you'll learn the differences and similarities between different genres and discover the secrets to becoming a writer who can handle them all. You'll also learn the differences between long and short forms and how to decide which length best suits any given story. You'll even see how genres can be blended to defy conventional wisdom, when to do it, and when not to. In short, you'll become a more versatile writer.

Dale E. Lehman is a writer, veteran software developer, amateur astronomer, and bonsai artist in training. He principally writes mysteries, science fiction, and humor. In addition to his novels, his writing has appeared in "Sky & Telescope" and on With his wife Kathleen he owns and operates the imprint Red Tales. They have five children, six grandchildren, and two feisty cats. At any given time, Dale is at work on several novels and short stories.
