New MWA Online Offerings and How to Make Sure You're Hearing About Them

As Marylanders shelter in place, MWA has been working overtime to keep our members engaged with each other, the broader writing community and our own personal writing journeys.

Here are some of MWA's recent and upcoming online Zoom events:

  • Our March webinar with Barbara Morrison on "What ICan Do Today" was full of inspiration and practical tips for maintaining a writing practice in these uncertain times.

  • Next Saturday, Matthew Winner will hanging out with us to talk social media in the age of social isolation, and how to use those networking tools to support our writing life without overwhelming it. Free to members, open to guests for $20. Register here.

  • Earlier today, the Montogomery Chapter explored What Film Structure Can Teach Us About Crafting Our Stories with Harrison Demchick.

  • At 2 PM today, the Prince George's County Chapter will host prolific children's author Sharon Flake to celebrate spring and share about her writing life. This is perfect for tweens and teens too. Click here to join on Zoom.

  • This coming Wednesday, April 15, at 7 PM, poet Meg Eden will talk about the public life of a writer, and how to be a bold, respectful writer in the public sphere, both in-person and online. We’ll cover tips on how to read your work in front of others, network and pitch—and practice fearlessly getting yourself out there as a writer! Click here to sign up.
